What we have been up to!

Here is the long promised blog about what we have been up to for the last few months.  In addition to all the mini-shoots we have been busy!  And of course we took a ton of pictures along the way!

First we headed to Massachusetts for my sister's bridal shower and then spent the rest of the week and Easter in New York with our families.  My whole family is going to be in the wedding in August so expect to hear more about that!

In April I ran my first 5K at the urging of my son Tyler after a talk we had about being nervous when he plays baseball.  I said I was nervous about doing a race and he made me do it in preparation for the TRIATHALON I did in May.  It was crazy and I still can't believe I did it!  Thanks to my friend Joanne for the pre-race picture of me she took!

We spent most of our spring at the baseball field!  Tyler's team, the Rangers came in second in their coach pitch league and Tyler showed so much improvement this year!  I am so proud of him!

We made some new friends this spring and have had a blast playing with them!

Then my baby turned 7!  I can't believe I am the mom of a 7 year old, unreal!  We took the kids to a mudcats game to celebrate!  I made Tyler a wrestling ring cake to take to school, the kids were all impressed!

Overall our spring has been a ton of fun and more than a little busy!  But we are enjoying spending the time together until school starts again and having fun!  Tyler and Katie are crazy kids, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Now hopefully I am back on track with my blogging!  I have a ton of news about things to come through the holidays so it should keep me on my toes!

Mini-Shoot Favorites

I know, I know, Once again I have been a blog slacker!  The last few months have been crazy!  I am hoping to do a blog next week and share the non-studio related stuff that has been going on because of course I have pictures of all of it!!

But for now I thought I would offer up a few of my favorites from each mini-shoot I had this spring!  I had so much fun and can't wait for the fall to do them again!!

Opening Day

Ah baseball season.  That time of year where I can pick fights with people and I don't get in trouble!  I am a die-hard Yankees fan, who grew up in a family full of Red Sox fans (along with most of my friends) and married a Mets fan.   Baseball season is never boring around here.  The kids were plied with baseball teams from all sides but Tyler followed Daddy and is a Mets fan and Katie may have been coerced by Mommy and Aunty Ashey into being a Yankees fan.   A house divided.

Every year on opening day (which should be a national holiday, just sayin')  I take a picture of the kids in their baseball gear.  This year was no exception.  But I started playing around with this years picture and ended up with a whole new look to my proofs!  A little more fun, a lot more pop!

A random camera story

Anyone who knows me is wondering why in the name of la-de-da does Corrie have a picture of a Nikon camera as the background on her blog?  I am a Canon girl at heart.  I love my baby.  BUT I can't take a picture of my camera with my camera now can I?  

When I was playing around with the new set up over here last night, I had an epiphany about what I wanted.  I went looking for a picture but none of it was what I wanted.  I know, I get these ideas in my head and they have to be perfect.  I'm working on it.  Anyway, while I was quietly fuming about not finding what I wanted, I remembered my husband's old film camera sits on the bookshelf in the office!

I grabbed it, ripped the shiny bright pink table cloth (leftover from Katie's birthday party) back from the dining room table and went to work.  The end result (10 pictures later) was exactly what I was looking for!

And that is why there is a picture of a Nikon in the background of a blog of a girl who will never own anything but a Canon!

Changes...

I am going to get back into blogging over here!  I know I have been a slacker about it!  But I am going to make some changes to the format both here and on my facebook page.  I want to do more than just share my shoots, I want to give you all a window into who I am, why I do this and the chaos and fun that my everyday life can be!

Of course I will still be sharing samples of my shoots, but I think hiring a photographer, especially one that works with your children, is about more than pictures.  Its about who they are, what they can get out of your children and can they capture the spirit of who your family is!
